Soon after, he was sent to Taiwan as a missionary by the Christian and Missionary Alliance.

Apart from his mission of spreading the gospel, another objective was to construct a local school. Therefore, he established Tamkang High School to cultivate Taiwanese missionaries and pastors. Coincidentally, March 9th was the day the Japanese government approved the school’s establishment and it was also the date when Dr.George Leslie Mackay, his father arrived at Tamsui. And because of this, March 9th of every year has been Tamkang High School’s anniversary celebration to this day.
