Dr.George Leslie Mackay was born in Canada, he was the fourth son and the youngest of all six kids. He had already decided to be a missionary when he was only 10 years old and had been determined and dedicated ever since. To fulfill his calling and destiny of spreading the gospel, he attended Christian college and Theology seminary to strengthen his knowledge and courage.

From a historical point of view, he obviously succeeded. Not only was he a legendary historical figure, but he was also a missionary that followed God’s calling and transformed the culture in Taiwan. There are more in-depth writings about the works of Dr. Mackay uploaded in the “History Recap” section.

Unfortunately, Dr.Mackay passed away shortly after. God’s faithful servant dedicated his whole life to Taiwan, helping countless lives and leaving neverending influences.

Now, Dr.Mackay is resting in the Mackay cemetery inside the Tamkang High School campus. His spirit, love, and passion will forever stay with the people of Tamsui and aspire to the next generations. No one will love Taiwan more than the “Beard Missionary”.
